  Ruskin Bond has been writing for over sixty years and currently has over 120 titles in print, including novels, collections of short stories, poetry, essays, anthologies, and children's books. In 1957, his first novel, The Room on the Roof, won the prestigious John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. He has also received the Padma Shri (1999), the Padma Bhushan (2014), and two Sahitya Akademi awards, one for his short stories and the other for his children's writings. The Delhi government honored him with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. Ruskin Bond was born in 1934 and raised in Jamnagar, Shimla, New Delhi, and Dehradun. He has spent his entire life in India, with the exception of three years in the United Kingdom, and now lives in Mussoorie with his adopted family.
